Advisor letter of support/recommendation for the Marie Christine Kohler Fellowship

The Marie Christine Kohler Fellowship is founded on principles of scholarship, leadership, and fostering a breadth of ideas. It offers an exceptional opportunity for graduate students from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to live together in the former Governor's Mansion now known as the Knapp House.

Fellows host a number of formal and informal academic and recreational activities at the house throughout the year. Principal among these are the seminar dinners held monthly during the semester. The seminar dinners offer a formal setting for learning and exchanging ideas. Fellows recruit speakers from the local community for the seminars and prepare and serve dinner to invited guests from the university and the greater Madison community. All fellows must help prepare for and participate in the seminar dinners.

As a major part of this fellowship is excellence in scholarship, we ask that you comment on your adviseeŐs work. Yet equally important is the everyday life and vibrancy of the house; so we also ask that you speak to why you believe your advisee to be particularly well suited for the Marie Christine Kohler Fellowship.
