OLD GOVERNORS' MANSION
1855-56
Constructed of locally quarried sandstone and designed in the Italianate style, this house was officially built for Julius T. White, secretary of the Wisconsin insurance company. Governor Jeremiah Rusk acquired the house in 1883, and sold it to the State of Wisconsin two years later. It was the executive mansion for seventeen Wisconsin governors from 1885 to 1950
